Kavita was the very first artist to become a part of ICT in 2024, at a time when I had just begun searching for crochet artists across the city and nearby villages.

One day, someone sitting outside their home recommended her to me and shared her contact. When I went to meet her, I showed her a bag design and just two days later, she had recreated it.

I was honestly shocked. As a beginner crochet artist myself, it would have taken me at least ten days to make something like that, but she completed it in just two and with such neatness and precision. That was the moment I truly understood what over 40 years of dedication to a craft looks like.

Like many women of her time, Kavita learned crochet at a young age, when schools taught crafts like crochet, knitting, and embroidery to young girls. She continued practicing over the years, steadily mastering her skills. Whether it’s a sweater, bag, pouch, or blanket - she can do it all with ease and confidence.

The initial days at ICT were not easy. We experimented with all kinds of customizations, often taking on challenging and unfamiliar designs. Kavita approached each one with patience and determination, consistently bringing them to life.

While creating new designs required immense time, energy, and thought and we eventually had to streamline our process , those early trial years were crucial. Without her support and patience during that phase, I wouldn’t have been able to discover the direction ICT truly needed to take.

Today, Kavita’s work continues to be a strong foundation of ICT carrying years of experience, dedication, and a quiet strength that reflects in every piece she creates.
